Wendy DeWitt performs “straight from the heart” boogie woogie and blues. Brought to the blues at the age of 10 while growing up over a store in Glen Ellen, California her passion for music lead her to become a driving piano player and singer, in the tradition of Chicago Blues and Texas Boogie Woogie. Her influences range from Otis Spann, Memphis Slim, and Professor Longhair to Johnnie Johnson and Albert Ammons. Hank Ballard, with whom Wendy toured, called her his “favorite piano player” due to her full sound and two-fisted style.
Wendy has performed with Charlie Musselwhite, Otis Rush, and Jimmy Thackery. She’s appeared at the Cincinnati Blues Fest, Boston Symphony Hall with Hank Ballard and the Midnighters and played before a sold out audience at the San Diego Museum of Art with Hadda Brooks in one of Hadda’s last performances. She’s also performed at the San Francisco Blues Festival, St. Croix Blues and Heritage Fest, Les Nuis de Boogie Woogie in Paris, and festivals in Switzerland, Austria and Belgium. Wendy regularly tours, and produces the annual Queens of Boogie Woogie series, showcasing artists from around the U.S. In 2012 and 2014 Wendy and Kirk Harwood represented The Golden Gate Blues Society in the International Blues Challenge, Memphis, Tennessee, achieving the 2014 Finals, the top eight of 110 acts.
Drummer and vocalist Kirk Harwood worked with Norton Buffalo (Steve Miller), Huey Lewis, Western Swing Hall of Famer Tommy Thomsen and Roy Rogers before joining up with Wendy.
